Delia English Primary School & Kindergarten has operated the Education Bureau-supported Initiation Programme (IP) since 2002.  This full-time, six-month programme supports newly arrived children in strengthening their English and Chinese, adapting to Hong Kong society and education system, and preparing for a smooth transition to mainstream schooling.

 

A key strength of our IP programme is the responsive and individualised approach to learning. Teachers carefully identify students’ learning needs and provide appropriate teaching, learning materials and support to help them build confidence and adjust to an unfamiliar environment. Small classes foster close teacher-student interaction and a welcoming community, while the school retains flexibility to design curricula and support that meet students’ needs.

 

Learning in Delia also extends beyond the classroom. Through visits to the local community, museums, theatres and places of cultural significance. These experiences, together with academic learning, support students’ personal development and social adaptation as they prepare for the next stage of schooling in Hong Kong.
